Villa Clara

Experience the real Cote d'Azur

"The reality of Villa Clara is even more picturesque than the listing images ... To experience the best of what the South of France has to offer while enjoying a peaceful enclave, there really is no other choice than Villa Clara and we fully intend to return!"

Words do not do justice to the superlative view

We have recently returned from a fabulous stay in a Villa Clara. The setting is unsurpassable. The villa is just steps away from the most atmospheric French village of St Jeannet. So that meant fresh croissants and pain chocolate every morning with steaming hot coffee while sitting out on the terrace overlooking the hill towns of St Paul de Vence down across to Nice, over to Antibes and out to sea. Villa Clara is more than a comfortable holiday villa with all the expected amenities, it is also a home away from home. We were torn between staying and enjoying the villa, the pool and surrounding garden or making excursions to the many enchanting hilltop top towns. We were spoilt for choice with the art exhibitions and art galleries. For the sporting enthusiasts, there was much to choose from with nearby rivers and mountains providing walking, climbing as well as water based activities. As we were holidaying with family which included toddler and baby we enjoyed just hearing about what we could consider for another visit. The 'team' that look after Villa Clara make it all too easy. Benoit and Corinne so caring and such great back up. Even the taxi driver that was recommended was fantastically helpful. And then there was Nice. Only half an hour away. So we enjoyed the contrast to our country idyll with a day out of busy provincial big city life with a memorable lunch of shellfish in the famous flower market in the old town. I would recommend a car if for no other reason than shopping for groceries. Although St Jeannet can provide excellent meats, vegetables, bakery and pharmacy the other shopping is best done in the lower village which is only minutes away but a steep climb home. But there is a very good bus service once you have figured out how to read the time tables. A final word for the restaurants, bars and general bonhomie in St Jeannet. All excellent, friendly and contributed to making our stay memorable. We hope very much to return to St Jeannet.

A dream villa tucked away in a charming village!

Villa Clara has all the modern amenities you need with all the charm of a historic property to create a wonderful vacation experience. We spent every morning out on the terrace enjoying fresh baked pastries from one of the two bakeries in town and coffee brewed fresh with the luxury coffee maker at the villa. There was no rush to get out and explore when you have views of the Mediterranean like that! But we did get out and enjoy the beaches and nearby perched villages. We even enjoyed our days spent right in St. Jeannet, conversing with the butcher, grocer, baker, and restaurant employees. Everyone was so friendly and indulged me in my efforts to better my french. A special night was enjoyed at the restaurant "La Table des Baous."

Charming Rustic Luxury with Extraordinary View

This lovely villa was everything we hoped for and more. The town of Saint Jeannet is charming and truly a French Provincial experience. We did not want for anything at the Villa. The care takers were marvelous and welcoming and were willing to accommodate our every need. Though we never met the owners face to face they made it clear that our satisfaction at the villa was their number one priority. They really cared, were very communicative and we feel that we have made new "Kiwi" friends. The grounds are beautiful , the kitchen really well equipped and fun to cook in for guests and family. Wifi, television, dishwasher, laundry facilities all in excellent condition. The house is very comfortable but still manages to charm and maintains a rustic quality that my husband and young adult children really appreciated. The location is great for day excursions all over the Cote d'Azure and then we tucked into the villa for the evening and enjoyed feasting on local produce in this magnificent setting with spectacular view. Thank you to the Villa Clara team for providing us with such a special experience and cherished memories!

After a week in London at the Olympics Villa Clara was a most welcome retreat ...

After a week in London at the Olympics Villa Clara was a most welcome retreat. Quiet unhurried and all the days the same, sunny and warm. The 3 kids thoroughly enjoyed the pool and even made a makeshift volleyball court. Our excursions were limited but we did make 2 climbs and went to the beach in Antibes. The view is ridiculous of course and you must go to dinner at The Charante Grill and please visit Irene the local grocer with grey hair and glasses. She is a wonderful cook and lady. Excellent fried zucchini flowers and roast chicken. Corrine and Benoit are wonderful caretakers so unusual to have friendly faces (helpful too) a short walk away. Have fun and enjoy the sun.

New Jersey

Two precious weeks with our three grand children

My wife Ilona and I have been most fortunate to be the guests of our daughter and son in law . We had 2 precious weeks with them and our 3 grand children . They are returning to New Jersey to live near us again after nearly 5 years in London. Villa Clara has been a wonderful experience for us and a very relaxing get away. We love the view, the town, our day trips and of course the bread, wine and cheese.. we feel as if we have made friends with Laurent the baker and Irene the grocer lady. One of our most amazing days was the hike with Benoit to the Castellet. He was a most engaging guide and the kids really loved his treasure hunt even though we could barely walk by the end. We are all sad to leave after 2 beautiful weeks. Hopefully we can return before long to enjoy your place again. p.s your cottage provided a wonderful accommodation for us.

We love your house

Two weeks ago we came into your lovely house and decided to never leave it again! However, tomorrow we have to go back to Germany...? We love your house with all the warmness inside, we love the spectacular view, we love the pizza oven, we love Benoit and Corinne, we love St. Jeannet and it's friendly people, we love the Baou and? we love to come back...? Thank you.

We feel so lucky to have discovered Villa Clara

From our initial greeting by the charming caretaker walking us through the home, to cooking bubbling pizzas in the outdoor oven and taking wonderful midnight swims, we feel so lucky to have discovered Villa Clara. If you like to cook you'll appreciate the well appointed kitchen, if you like eat at restaurants there are three good ones a five minute walk away, if you like to hike there is a great hike right in your own back yard - the "rock" of St.Jeannet, if you like to see the sites Matisse's Chapel and St. Paul de Vence are a quick drive away, not to mention all the wonderful beaches of the French Riviera, which can be done in a day trip and if you like to go wine tasting there is a local winery. Great vacation, we will be back to Villa Clara.

One of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed

My family and I (husband, kids ages 19, 16 and 11) had the good fortune to stay at Villa Clara this June. Wow. From the breathtaking view (kitchen to outdoor dining to Mediterranean), to the picture perfect pool, this is one of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed. The house is perfect, the property is in town, which we like. An easy walk to the town center where you can buy fresh bread, pastries, pizza, fruits and vegetables and meat from the butcher. Also, there are three great restaurants for dinner -- so hard to decide because the kitchen at the Villa is amazing and there is also an outdoor pizza oven. The location of the house is also great if you want to take day trips to the Cote d'Azur or Italy. The only downside is that the pool, surrounded by mountains, is hard to leave! This is a truly amazing place. Also, the house manager, Benoit is a treat. He and his wife Corinne own a bed and breakfast in town. We took a cooking class one morning from them and it was a highlight. Pictures do not do this property justice -- it is too beautiful to property capture.

I could get lost there for months

Benoit was waiting to greet us, after an amusing sidetrack thanks to the sat nav, we actually ended up in the driveway of the gardener, very comical! Villa Clara is exactly as it looks on the internet, no surprises or disappointments. We loved it, after being out and about we would return and spend the rest of the day around the pool relaxing before cooking pizza in the oven and definitely follow Anna's recipes, they are great!?St Jeannet is a gorgeous village without the crush, the Villa with it's view and homely atmosphere, I could get lost there for months!?We loved everything about our stay and there was not one thing that was a downside.?If your wondering, yes or no, stay you won't be disappointed, and be sure to go on one of Benoit's tours, although comfortable on our own we had a ball with him, he is full of knowledge and a lot of fun!

A memory our children will have for a long time

Thank you for renting your beautiful villa to our family this week.. The weather has been hot and beautiful so the use of the pool has been frequent by our children.. The tour we took with Benoit to the local goat farm and sweet factory and Tourette sur Loop was amazing. A memory our children will have for a long time. The Cote DAzur is gorgeous.. You are so lucky to own a villa close to everything. We hope to return soon. St Jeannet village and the people have been lovely.
